Day 1: Tadpole Behavior

We were debriefed earlier today about our ride tomorrow--about 67 miles of riding, no serious hills (we'll begin tackling the Cascades on Monday). I had dinner today with people from Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Canada, as well as from all across the U.S. I am currently camped in Marysville, about 1 hour outside of Seattle.

I had a wonderful time exploring Marysville with 3 new friends I had made: Jason, Brandon, and Justin--all elementary/middle-school-aged kids from the neighborhood who showed me mountain bike trails in the town as well as how to spot really huge tadpoles in a pond. :) My bike had not yet been put together, so I ran alongside their bikes as we're going along these trails. On the way back to the campsite, I got a lift by standing on some pegs on the back wheel of one of their bikes. I guess bikers always help each other out. :)

A great first day. Tomorrow we begin the ride!
